Stand for Something, be an activist Goth or Punk.

WARNING: The following post contains violent videos, arsonist activity towards Hot Topic, Ripping on Emos, shoving opinions on Vegetarianism, and making fun of everything. Therefor it should not be read by anybody.
__________________________

Goth evolved from Punks in the late 70s thanks to bands like Bauhaus, Joy Division and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
But real goths still keep their punk roots in mind, and everyone knows all punks stand for something. Below I have listed some of the most common things Activist Goths and Punks are associated with: Animal Rights, Politics, Art, Protests and Burning Down Hot Topic.

The video below is of animal cruelty in America. I just want people to watch the two short videos from beginning to end before they continue on to the actually post.

Animal Rights:
Lots of goths (Dita Von Teese, Kat Von D, Ville Valo, Emilie Autumn, Kelly Osbourne... is she goth? ) are vegetarian, vegan or believe in animal rights. This means refusing to wear fur, not eating meat etc.
Remember, hating humans is alright, but hating animals is NOT cool. Besides, everyone eats animals and wears fur and leather... be non-conformists... or at least look into animal rights... and read this: http://www.britishmeat.com/49.htm

If you go vegetarian, you'll be healthier and with every ones help, animal cruelty will end. Remember, even just one person can help save thousands of animals lives per year by not contributing money to the the slaughterhouses.

Okay, now that I tried shoving my opinion on all my readers (all 9 of them,) below is why you should have your own opinions on the matter of Politics.

Politics:
Whether you want to destroy the Jedis or support Bushism, politics is very important.
Why? Because Goths need to stand for something, and having a political opinion is very important. Anarchy was what punks stood for, but you shouldn't choose it just because they did. Remember to be non conformist. Don't go with a political movement just because your parents or friends choose that one. Really look into each political party and movement and learn the truth of them all. In my opinion they all suck and have so many flaws, especially the American ones. (Dear Obama, please do not send your deathsquad to kill me for not accepting your ways,) But I believe Anarchy wouldn't work either. I think communism has the least flaws. But that's just my [retarded] opinion, choose any party or movement you like, so long as it isn't Jedi. ☭

Arts:
So you've decided you don't want to be a vegetarian or a political activist? Well guess what? I hate you.
But at least you can still claim to be goth with the art you enjoy.
What is art you ask? Now I really do hate you.
Art doesn't only mean pictures, art can be music, singing, dance, paintings, poetry and literature.
While not all goths are artsy, most are.
Appreciating art is important too. Go to a museum, see a play and read some books.
Also, when writing poetry, don't use a thesaurus or rhyming dictionary like I do, then you'll be labeled a poser and emo.
Make sure your poetry if from the heart and soul... if you have a heart and soul that is... emos don't... neither do Jedis.

Protests:
Goth and punks are often seen protesting against many things such as:
Book Burnings
KFC and other Animal Cruelty places
War (It's a useless war people, how are we helping them by killing them?)
Oil
Pollution
Rain forests and other Forest Destruction
Tearing down famous buildings
Banning Religions Texts, movies and other media

Lack of Free Speech
Hot Topic and the rise of the Emo and Vampire culture... Per Se?

Find a local protest near you, or better yet, organize one!

Here's how, kids:
1. Ask your mom for a large wooden or cardboard board to make your picket sign.
2. Gather all your little playmates and pals from school.
3. Take your group to the place of protest
4. If necessary get violent. Lives can and will be lost, but it's for a good cause.
5. If the protests last too long, send someone to get cookies and juice boxes.
6. If the protests fails, you must end your lives for you have failed.
7. If the protest is successful, you can finally go home knowing you helped the world.

Shoving Your Opinion on Other
I hate it when people try doing that to me. "You need to eat meat!" "You Need some Jesus!" "You need to be Emo!" "You shouldn't have that abortion," it pisses me off, okay?
Anyway, that's what you do, convince people your way is right, and push them to believe what you believe, even if it's wrong or stupid. (The reptilians are out to get you,)
Let me throw a scenario at you:
Your a communist, vegetarian, atheist, environmentalist goth. Push all this on random people surfing the Internet. If you manage to change someone, you get 100 tickets, redeemable at any Hot Topic or Chuck E. Cheeses.

By the was, I have never shoved my opinion on people by using the almighty Internet...
Burn down Hot Topic, be vegetarian, and listen to Joy Division.... NOW!!

You were warned not to read this....

Dressing Goth Outdoors AKA The Guy Who Threw The Shoe At Bush

Some people have trouble going outside all gothed-up. They worry about what people think about them, they don't like people staring at them etc.
But I think this is a good time to take a page from Mr. guy who threw the shoe at Bush.
Why did he do it? He wanted to fight for what he believed in, hitting Bush in the face with his show. He knew he would be arrested, but he didn't care. He just went ahead and did it... he missed, but still, he tried.
What does this have to do with dressing goth?
We dress that way to express how we feel towards society and life in general. We also like to freak people out. Some people are only in it for the shock factor anyway.
The photo on your left is of some goth guy. Look at the conformists behind him. He doesn't care, he's just going wherever he has to go.
Just ignore the people around you and do whatever you want... remember, your dressing like that for yourself, not for them. Ignore their comments, if they stare, just stare back, and if they laugh just kick their... nevermind, you get the picture.
Listening to a good song helps people gain courage too. I prefer 'We Hate Everyone' by Type O Negative.
Thanks for reading.

Goth is not a Cult.

Being an atheist, I try to keep an open and respectful mind to all religions, yes, even Satanism. I don't believe in satan, but I will tell my readers the things you hear about satanists isn't true. They don't sacrifice babies or kill goats etc.
But that's not what this article is about, this article is about people associating goth with satanism, the occult and cults.

While, true, some goths do belong to one of the above, goths can be ANY religion. There is no particular religion for goths.

But many people seem to think it's cool to wear an upside down pentagram, or a freakin' goats head or something. They think it makes them look goth. It doesn't. It makes them look like retards. Don't do it. Please, unless you have a reason...

Anyway, a lot of murders, including the Columbine Massacre, were blamed on Goths and cults as well.

First off, wearing a trench coat didn't make the kids of Columbine goth. The kids were normal depressed kids. No, not having friends, anti-depressants and ordinary teenage angst caused the craziness. Below is a photo of those kids that everyone says were goth:

Do they look goth? They look like normal conformist dumb and dumber to me.
Anyway, these kids apparently listened to Marilyn Manson... an industrial singer who never claimed to be goth...
Here's what Manson has to say:

A lot of people hate Manson, especially goths because morons associate them with him. But you gotta admit he's awesome in this video.

So you see, whatever made the Columbine Massacre happen had nothing to do with the Goth subculture, or with a cult.

So, a little clarity on what we learned in this post:

  • Goth isn't a cult
  • Goths can be any religion... except Jedi
  • Cults aren't always the cause of murders
  • Manson isn't goth, he's industrial
  • It's alright for a goth to listen to Manson as long as they understand he isn't Goth, and nor is his music.

Thanks for reading, and please comment, subscribe, and don't buy from Hot Topic... EVER.

Real Goth vs Posers vs Emos

I got really pissed off today when I was at the mall and saw a ton of posers and emos. Some of these people probably think they really are goth.
Below is what goth is and isn't, as well as a bonus section on emos (Emos are those gay looking kids who pretend to be depressed...)
___________________________________________

Real Goth:

There are so many different types of Goth, I'll just mention the most common goth... apart from poser.

Real goths can wear whatever color they like, though they tend to wear black, white, dark reds and blues, and dark purples.
Usually dressed elegantly, such as, for men, a button up shirt, pinstripe trousers, combat boots and a trench coat, or for women, dark dresses with corsets on the outside and combat boots. Goths can also wear a plain band t-shirt, dark jeans, leather jackets etc.
Black hair is not necessary, but having a unique hairstyle is.
Makeup is also to be your own unique style. Men and women often wear pale foundation.
Goths usually make their own clothes, enjoy Victorian poetry and literature and listen to the some of the following bands:
  • Joy Division
  • Bauhaus
  • The Sisters of Mercy
  • The Cure
  • Siouxsie and The Banshees
  • Alien Sex Fiend
  • The Birthday Party
  • The Cult
  • Dead Can Dance
  • Fields of the Nephilim
  • London after Midnight
  • Mephisto Walz
  • The Mission U.K
  • Nosfurato
  • Rozz Williams
  • Rossetta Stone
  • Sex Gang Children
  • Speciman
  • Tones on Tail
  • Virgin Prunes
  • Xmal Deutschland
Goths can listen to ANY band. I myself also like Type O Negative, Theater of Tragedy, The Rasmus, Entwine etc.
Some posers like to force themselves to listen to real goth bands, but they don't actually like them. Remember, Goth isn't for everyone...
Goths are very artistic and usually perform in some form of art.
I really hate it when people quote wikipedia... any way:
"The goth subculture is a contemporary subculture found in many countries. It began in the United Kingdom during the early 1980s in the gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the post-punk genre. The goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era, and has continued to diversify. Its imagery and cultural proclivities indicate influences from nineteenth century Gothic literature along with horror films and to a lesser extent the BDSM culture."

Poser Goth:

Like a gangsta but in black clothes with clown makeup. Loves Hot Topic just as much as emos do.
T shirt of Manson or Slipknot, chains, winter hat, so many zippers... why so many zippers? Urban Dictionary says "....they usually wear clothing with a lot of patches on them that don't make any sense, or try to show off their "awesome" nonconformist way, but do not realize they ARE, in fact, conforming. They fit in with the queer crowd quite nicely... "

Someone who wears black for fun, listens to poser bands like Linkin Park or Paramore, acts all depressed all the time in their happy lives, writes sad poetry like "My soul is blacker than the midnight raven's feathers" Basically a goth poser is worse than an Emo... kind of...

______________________
Emos
Boys and girls wear tight jeans of any color. Tight tshirts, often with an emo band or an old cartoon or video game. Studded belts of any color, skater shoes, long fringe in their eyes etc.

List of emo bands: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_emo_artists
Surprise! Paramore and Fall Out Boy are there!
Emos usually don't cut themselves, but when they do, it is often because they think it's cool. Real cutters have a reason to do so, depression or stress etc.
Emos like to pretend to be depressed, however they are often actually very happy and have tons of friends... who are emos.
Maybe the above is about emo posers? Maybe real emos aren't asshole preps, I don't know, I never met a real emo, if such a thing exists. If so, I apologise to the real emos for this article.
_______________
I think that cuts all the confusion of what Goth is and isn't. Thanks for reading, and remember to burn down Hot Topic... before it steals your soul.

Burn Down Hot Topic

As I watched the goth kids burn down Hot Topic on south park, I realized I must not be the only person who hates that store.

Why do I hate Hot Topic? Below are 13 reasons we should all burn down Hot Topic before it steals our souls.

1. It made goth mainstream
2. It helped create posers
3. It sells Twilight merchandise... Per Se?
4. It sells rap and country t-shirts
5. It claims to be an underground shop, but only mainstream people shop there
6. The music it plays is mostly mainstream crap
7. Emos shop there... EMOS!!!
8. They didn't have a Cure shirt in my size
9. They sell freakin' care bear sweaters
10. They made it hard to tell real goths from posers
11. No one makes their own clothes anymore because of this store. What happened to individuality and showing the mainstream industries you don't need them?
12. Nightmare before Christmas is considered poser now. I loved that movie, Hot Topic ruined it.
13. I can't think of anymore reasons, I just like having thirteen of them.
I guess I should mention I did buy stuff there a couple times. But whenever I do I try to either alter it, or mix it in with non-poser clothes so no one can tell. Still, in order to not be a hypocrite, I'm going to completely avoid the emo-maker from now on.
